Many cigar manufacturers purchase their tobacco from an import-broker. At the Las Vegas Cigar Company, we go to the fields to oversee the cultivation of practically every leaf we roll.

IT BEGINS WITH THE PLANTING of the tobacco seeds, which are as tiny as particles of dust, or grains of sand. Our cultivation teams in the Dominican Republic sprinkle millions of seeds on five-acre plots of rich, fertile soil, then cover them with burlap or straw to retain moisture and help the seeds root.

The tobacco plants grow densely packed together, like grass, and reach four to six inches in height before they're transplanted.
